Hello Beauties! I recently uploaded the Fabulous Confabulation with Amira Yahyaoui, the CEO and founder of Mos ! If you haven’t seen it yet definitely go watch it here.
Today I am back with a discount code for their site. Use the code JMILS10 for 10% off. Mos helps with your FAFSA and also finds any other money that you might be eligible for. Below are some of their success stories.
Mos awarded me the Black Students Matter Scholarship this summer and I have recently signed up for their site to get more financial aid as well. I am really excited for the process!
As we know college is expensive, so let’s be sure that we are trying all reasonable options first before deciding to take out large loans.
If you are in college or you are a senior in high school, getting more money for school is on the forefront of your mind. Paying for college can be really stressful, can leave you in a huge amount of debt, and sometimes prevent you from going to your top school.
Well, I had the opportunity to chat with Amira Yahyaoui, the CEO of Mos, which is a platform that helps students pay for college through simplifying access to financial aid. She explains what students tend to forget when applying for more money, and explains the process of how Mos can help you stay debt free.
Amira was also a human rights activist in her home country Tunisia. She has experienced many obstacles such as, being exiled from her country in 2002 for protesting against the government. Amira talked about her journey as an activist and gave some advice for young activists who are constantly on the front lines right now.
I am thankful for Amira and Mos because in August I was one of the recipients of their Black Students Matter Scholarship! It was great to be acknowledged and awarded in what seemed like the climax of the Pandemic.
I was so wonderful to chat with Amira! Her story and her passion is so inspiring, and I’ve learned so much just by chatting with her. Please watch this interview for some valuable information on how to pay for school!
This Fabulous Confabulation was a fun one! I chatted with Tash and Cody who you may recognize from Cycle 23 of America’s Next Top Model. Together they are known as IIIcon! They are rappers, models, and creatives. Check out our conversation if you are interested in any of those fields!
Tash and Cody chatted about their experience on ANTM, their music, shared some advice, and even did a twin trivia!
Check out their music and keep up with all that they are doing by following them on social media.
A couple of weeks ago I got the opportunity to chat with Khiana and Brittany, the founders of Incorp[HER]ated.
Incorp[HER]ated is a diversity-inclusion agency focusing on sneakers, sport, music, and fashion that bridges the gap between communities and creative industries. In March, they launched their own crowdfunding campaign through Adidas and IFundWomen’s Reimagine Sport campaign to support women redefining the future of sports.
I met Khiana and Brittany at a video shoot that Refinery29 was doing to highlight them and their organization, Incorp[HER]ated. There, I learned so much about their mission and I just knew that they had to chat with me on Girls with Beauty & Brains.
This was a really wonderful and informative conversation about what it is like for them as women in the sneaker industry, what they hope brands would start doing, tips and advice on how to market yourself especially during this time, and so much more!
This Fabulous Confabulation with KJ Rose was everything!! She gave so much advice, knowledge, wisdom, and encouragement to always believe in yourself and your many talents. KJ Rose is a Grammy award-winning performance expert, and we spoke about her new book, Eight Steps To Delivering The Performance of Your Life; The Rose Effect; her transition from performer to performance coach; winning a Grammy with Lil Nas X; what makes a good performer, and so much more.
I think the overall theme of this conversation was that everyone has their own story and their own purpose. No one is going to be just like you. “No one can do the thing that you were put here to do.” So go for your dreams because all it takes is for one person to believe in you, and that person is YOU!

It was so wonderful to chat with Shirley Williams, who is an Emmy nominated producer and supervising producer at Refinery29. FYI, this Fabulous Confabulation was before COVID and social distancing, so I was able to speak to her at the Refinery29 office. We chatted about what her job entails, the importance of creating your own work, her production company, Willie B. Productions, the challenges she faces being a woman of color in the industry, and so much more.
I loved that Shirley mentioned the three questions asks herself when she is feeling insecure or doubtful.
What am I doing?
Why am I here? For what purpose?
What are my intentions?
It is super important to check in with yourself and reassure yourself that you have a purpose and are here for a reason. So when you’re feeling unsure or insecure about why you were voted to be class president in school or cast as the lead of the play, remember how hard you’ve worked and how deserving you are for all that you accomplish.
I hope you enjoy this Fabulous Confabulation with Shirley. It was super fun.
If you are interested in being a producer or director, then this video is for you!

These two sisters, Sydney and Ame, are dominating on Instagram with their IG live talk show, “Sista Chat.” They have daily interviews with celebrities including, Tiffany Haddish, Angela E. Gibbs, Lucky Church, and Lexi P, and they are only 15 and 13 years old! Luckily, I had the opportunity to be interviewed on “Sista Chat” and it was so much fun!! You can check that interview out here.
Well, I was so inspired and struck by their talent and productivity while in quarantine, I had to have a Fabulous Confabulation with them on Girls with Beauty & Brains! They taught me a tik to dance, how to strike a pose for the camera, and why they feel it is important to speak out, especially now! It was such a great and wonderful interview. Sydney and Ame are so extremely talented and I can’t wait to see how high they will soar. Remember their names! Follow them and tune into “Sista Chat” on their Instagram, Sydneyamefanpage.
Sydney and Ame are truly girls with beauty and brains!
It was a Monday night after a long day of classes. I received a notification that I had RSVP’d for an event called, “Women in Theatre with Serino Coyne.” I was so tired I thought about not going, but I am completely grateful that I did because I got to learn about Serino Coyne and the wonderful women who work there! I made sure that I caught up with them after the event so that I could talk with them on Girls With Beauty & Brains. They shared so much wonderful information, I wanted them to be able to share their experiences and words of wisdom with all of you beauties!
So if you’re obsessed with Broadway and theatre like me this Fabulous Confabulation is definitely for you! Serino Coyne has been innovating the way live entertainment is marketed since 1977. Some of their clients include Dear Evan Hansen, Aladdin, Ain’t Too Proud, The Lion King, Frozen on Broadway, and many more! In this confabulation, I am chatting with Leslie Barrett and Diana Salameh and they share with me their spontaneous and not so typical days at Serino Coyne, how one can get internships in the broadway, and cool things they do together as a company!
This confabulation was so much fun and I learned so much about Serino Coyne. Leslie and Diana helped me realize other jobs besides acting that have a close relationship with theatre and Broadway. Interning at Serino Coyne would sound like an amazing opportunity, like Diana stated in the interview, head to Careers. Broadway for many jobs and internships related to building a career on Broadway.
In January, I met up with Joelle Garguilo and shadowed her as she did her work on the Today Show. It was so interesting to watch how she was just so natural on camera. I also got to see her producer side and how she worked with the live audience outside. It was such a wonderful experience and Joelle works so incredibly hard.
Soooo! In this Fabulous Confabulation, host and producer, Joelle Garguilo, discusses the challenges of being a woman in the entertainment industry and gives some wonderful advice and tips on how to be a well-rounded journalist! You might have seen her on the Today Show, New York Live, NBC, and many other platforms. This was such a fun interview and I hope you enjoy it!
